How to Upgrade Toyota Navigation

If you have a Toyota navigation system built into your vehicle and would like to upgrade the maps displayed and used within the system itself, you must upgrade it. A Toyota navigation system uses the vehicle's latitude and longitude on a map and allows owners to navigate from their location to a different point of interest.Outdated maps may make it difficult to reach your final destination.

     Navigate your browser to the Toyota Navigation Map Updates website. Wait for the home screen to load fully.

     Click "Get a Map" on the left side of the page. Enter the year, make and model of the vehicle and the type of navigation system installed in the vehicle. If unsure, reference the user's manual that came with the vehicle.

     Enter your mailing address into the corresponding text boxes on your screen. Click "Send" at the bottom of the screen to initiate the mailing process. You should receive the upgrades by mail within one or two weeks of entering the information online.

     Turn on the Toyota vehicle, and insert the CD that came in the mail into the CD drive of the vehicle. The navigation system will recognize the update CD and will download any upgraded maps automatically.
